The persimmon is one of the most popular traditional motifs for autumn kakemono. It can be displayed from September to December, blending harmoniously with the season. Because its pronunciation is reminiscent of the characters ‘嘉来’ (‘the arrival of good fortune’), it is also regarded as a symbol of happiness and prosperity.
