一期一会 : Ichigo-ichie : Literally "one time, one meeting". This Japanese expression invites us to cherish the unique and irreplaceable nature of each moment.
In the tradition of the tea ceremony, it expresses the idea that every encounter should be experienced as a precious and unique moment. This expression is often displayed in the tokonoma (alcove) to remind one of its importance.
