This artwork is inspired by the famous ancient Sankei-en plum tree in Yokohama. The tormented and powerful shape of its trunk evokes a dragon, and this tree is known as Garyû-bai — the "dragon plum tree." To convey the strength and presence of the ancient trunk, golden pigments were used, while the delicate petals are enhanced with pearlescent pigments, adding luminous and subtle reflections.
